A Brazilian study (Moral et al., 2016) found sheep guardian dogs profitable only for herds above 483 head from the fourth year onward.

The Ontario provincial extension service provides the most practical break-even guidance: at 2% predation, one LGD becomes cost-effective around 400 sheep; at higher predation rates, the threshold drops significantly.

Goats
